Time Elevator Cyprus
Overlooking Limassol Fortress, on the site of warehouses once used by the local carob industry, stands a tourist center with a wealth of restaurants, a museum for temporary exhibitions, and at its heart, the "Time Elevator Cyprus" attraction. The attraction is built within an area that recreates the copper mines from which the island of Cyprus gets its name.
Facing three giant screens and accompanied by a wealth of four-dimensional effects, the viewers "descend" through virtual mine tunnels to the depths of Cypriot history, which unfolds within the lava flows deep within the earth.
Here, we witness the creation of the island of Cyprus, emerging in the center of the eastern Mediterranean basin. We meet the mythological heroes who settled it. We witness the arrival of Christianity to the island and the recurring battles of the armies of different empires for control of the island. We witness the drama of Shakespeare's "Othello and Desdemona," whose story is directly linked to Cypriot history.
The show ends with an exit from the tunnels into the air for an unforgettable flight over the island, as our bodies float inside the simulators and artificial wind blows through our hair. Each viewer receives a pair of headphones that allow them to listen to the soundtrack in one of five languages.
